Florence Hallett is an art writer and critic. She is a regular contributor to The I Paper, The Art Newspaper, and The New European. Her work has been published by The Telegraph, The Independent, 1843 Magazine, Apollo, theartsdesk,
and others.

She has a special interest in conservation and artists' methods and materials, and the rapidly developing technologies that are changing how art is made, experienced and cared for. 

She was among the first cohort of students on the pioneering History of Art with Material Studies BA at University College London. This was followed by an MA in late medieval and early Renaissance death culture in Italy and northern Europe, also at UCL. 

Stuidelate medieval and early Renaissance painting and sculpture, 'golden age' black and white photography, and 20th century creativity of all sorts.

She has given talks on topics from Francis Bacon, to replicas and authenticity, to curatorial care. In 2022 her essay on painting in post war London was published in the exhibition catalogue for Gagosian's Friends and Relations: Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon, Frank Auerbach, Michael Andrews.
